From 5 to 8 September 2024, Salou celebrates the departure of King Jaume I from the Port of Salou to conquer Mallorca. During these days, various cultural, sporting and recreational activities will remember that historic moment with the Medieval Market, the historical recreation of the royal departure, conferences, workshops and a regatta, among other events.

November in Salou is the squid month par excellence and for this reason it is essential to enjoy the Squid Festival, which this 2023 reaches its 48th edition, and the Squid Gastronomic Days, to taste delicious dishes with this cephalopod mollusk as an ingredient major.

“Els pirates de Salou” is an entertaining book published by the Salou City Council, with illustrations by Pilarín Bayés, with more than 100 stories or historical notes about pirates and corsairs, who attacked the coast of Salou for 400 years.

A total of 26 boats and 85 crew members are participating this year in the 47th edicion of the Festa del Calamar, the fishing competition that recalls Salou's seafaring tradition.

The Festa del Calamar de Salou, with 47 years of history, starts this Monday, November 21, 2022, the oldest competition held in the city of Salou. This party consists of the traditional fishing competition for this mollusc organized by the Salou town hall through the Cultural Services area and with the collaboration of the Salou Nautic Club.

The hotel chain Best Hotels, which currently manages 13 hotels in Salou and Cambrils and 20 more in the rest of Spain, has carried out a profound renovation of three of its establishments located on the Costa Daurada.

The Fiesta del Calamar has become a long-term tradition, as evidenced by the 44 years it has been held in the capital of the Costa Dorada. An important part of these holidays is the fishing contest related to this tasty mollusk. So next Monday, November 26, the kick-off to fans of the fishing world of the municipality is given around this meeting organized by the Department of Culture of the City of Salou with the collaboration of the Nautical Club of the municipality.

The deployment of the rescue and lifeguard service, which operates on the beaches of the capital of the Costa Dorada, began in the middle of this month with fifteen rescue workers, a figure that will be extended to thirty in high season. Currently, service is provided from 14 fixed points and this figure will reach 19 at the peak of the summer season.

The organization of the Maritime Fair of the Costa Daurada, which will be held in Cambrils from May 17 to 20, expects more than 15,000 people to attend. Organized by the Club Náutico de Cambrils by delegation of the City Council of the town, this exhibition is already considered a benchmark in nautical throughout Catalonia.

The City Council and the rescue and rescue service concessionaire, Servitur Salvament SL, have held a meeting to specify the details of the 2018 season. The service will be initiated, at a minimal start, during this Easter and will cover only the Levante beach.
