Tarraco Viva, or returning to the Roman Empire, from 18 to 30 May
Tarragona. Costa Dorada. A year raised in Tarragona for two weeks, the spirit of the Roman Empire that both mark the future of the municipality of the Costa Daurada through the XII Tarraco Viva. This year the event will be held from 18 to 30 May. The festival raises this year Tarraco Viva classical culture as its central theme. Seneca, Martial literature and art and architecture of classical Rome lead the program of events. Regarding the number of events have been organized over a hundred different activities in 26 areas located in various parts of the capital of the Costa Dorada and in other nearby municipalities. News Tarraco Viva 2010 introduces several innovations in its programming. Some of the most prominent are the focus of the festival (Seneca, Martial and Roman architecture). Others, however, refer to projects and collaborations with institutions which hitherto had not participated in this event which gathers in Tarragona thousands of visitors from different parts of Spain and abroad. The festival starts this 12th edition in collaboration with the History Channel, which is responsible for the projections of history that will be held during the festival in the Forum Plaza and King. Another innovation that has the Tarraco Viva 2010 is the Humanitas Project, whose goal is to make everything related to the classical culture of ancient Rome. To this end, activities have been organized to publicize the work of Seneca and Martial and the Roman art and architecture. Certamina noteworthy project, a proposal designed to achieve a greater involvement of youth in this festival and to be developed in secondary schools of the city from September 2010 until May 2011. In this case, the idea is that high school students organized an event on the historical reconstruction that reflects some aspect of life in ancient Rome. And this year the Tarraco Viva expands and goes beyond the city of Tarragona, as the organizers have scheduled a tour of performances by Altafulla Tarraco Viva, Constanti and Roda de Bera. Classics in Tarraco Viva In addition to the news, the event maintains activities that have been underway in most editions, such as conferences, discussion forums and exhibitions on the imperial Tarragona. Similarly, Tarraco Viva 2010 will also gladiator fights and displays of chivalry.
