Satisfaction in Tarragona for increasing of the number of visitors received for the city



Tarragona. Costa Dorada. More than 138,700 tourists visited Tarragona in the first seven months of this year 2009, up 23% over the same period last year, so the president of the Tourist Board of Tarragona, Sergi de los Ríos, and manager entity, Carlos Sanz, have expressed their satisfaction. This increase was detected following the increase in the number of cases handled in the six points of tourist information that is scattered around the city. According to this analysis, from early January until late July, the city received 138,716 visitors, 26,658 more than the same period last year. With regard to foreign tourism, the number of Japanese visitors is that which has grown over the previous year, from the 479 who walked through the city during the first seven months of 2008, the 992 who came to Tarragona this year. On the other hand, with the aim of improving care to visitors, the Tourist Board has installed three new totems with a tourist map of the city center. Noting the totems visitors can see at what point they are and the route to follow to reach the attractions of the city. The new totem poles have been installed at bus stations and train, as most visitors come to Tarragona with these means of transport
