Salou: the place to visit, to live and to be happy
Salou. Costa Dorada. 22 January 2025. The study by the consultancy firm YouGov, in which Salou appears as the second happiest municipality in Catalonia and one of the 20 happiest in Spain, is the leitmotiv of the promotional campaign for Salou 2025. There is no doubt about it. Salou is the ideal place to visit, to live and to be happy. Salou is the essence of happiness and well-being.
This was explained by the mayor, Pere Granados, at the presentation event organised in Madrid, at the Movistar Arena (until now Wizink Centre), taking advantage of the celebration of Fitur, the state's tourism fair par excellence.
The event was attended by more than 300 people, including the Minister of Tourism, Jordi Hereu; the Minister of Sports of the Generalitat, Berni Álvarez, and the Director General of Tourism of Catalonia, Cristina Lagé, as well as political figures, judicial figures, business and association representatives, academics and journalists.
After a video presentation of Salou's main attractions and the diverse offer it offers to visitors, Granados stressed that Salou is much more than sun and beach, "Salou is a place to visit, to live and, above all, to be happy", emphasising the firm commitment to sustainability and the well-being of people.
The mayor also highlighted Salou's integrative idiosyncrasy when he stated that "if you don't know Salou, you don't know Catalonia or Spain".
Happiness in words
For his part, the Minister of Tourism, Jordi Hereu, stressed that Salou is a tourist reference and that its presence at "Fitur is a great opportunity to show Salou to the world".
In her turn to speak, the Director General of Tourism of Catalonia, Cristina Lagé, congratulated Salou because "it is a success to present itself as a happy and diversified municipality, since tourism is, in essence, the industry of happiness".
The Minister of Sports of the Generalitat, Berni Álvarez, has highlighted the example of Salou as a destination for sports tourism, a projection that fits perfectly into the strategy of the Generalitat to promote sport as a driver of growth in Catalonia.
Happiness on the palate
The presentation ended with a tasting of the best cuisine of Salou, with local products and by chefs from various establishments in Salou led by chef Pep Moreno, Michelin star.
The delegation from Salou was attended by the impressive presence of the giants of the municipality, Violant d'Hungria and King Jaume I, on display in the presentation room.
