Although 2020 has been one of the worst years in the history of the tourism sector in the province of Tarragona, a group of tourist accommodation companies on the Costa Dorada has created the Costa Dorada Tourist Charitable Association, and one of its first actions has been to donate 16,000 euros to various local entities.
Specifically, it has made a donation of € 6,000 to the company Nilcar Tapicería SL for the manufacture of sanitary material and EPIS (gowns, caps and boots) that have been delivered to various health centers in the province of Tarragona.
In addition, it has also donated 10,000 euros to Cáritas Salou in memory of Juan Roig, a person very involved in this entity. Roig was one of the first hoteliers in Salou, since he ran the Monaco hotel. He was also a very loved and valued person for everything he did for tourism and also for the municipality and the inhabitants of Salou.
The Costa Dorada Tourist Charity Association is a non-profit association open to the participation and collaboration of all those entrepreneurs in the accommodation sector in the area. Its objective is to organize 100% solidarity events, in which all that is collected will go mainly to social entities in the territory and to entities or foundations dedicated to researching diseases.
However, as this 2020 it has not been possible for the Association to organize any charity event, it has decided to make the aforementioned 16,000 euro donation.
