Boost to the last section of the Camino de Ronda

Final section of the Camino de Ronda pending completion

Salou. Costa Dorada. 18 June 2021.
The Salou City Council does not stop promoting improvements and actions that allow the completion of the Camino de Ronda, which runs along the entire coastline of the capital of the Costa Dorada by the sea. This effort includes the action to improve pedestrian access on Falconera Street, in Cap de Salou, between the Lighthouse and Reguerot Street, by building a 2.5 meter wide sidewalk.

This performance has a budget of 48,000 euros, and with it it is wanted "to recover a space for people, since it is a place where there were no sidewalks and where it was not possible to circulate with a baby stroller or a wheelchair ", as explained by the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados.

In this area, the old car parks have been eliminated, but it will have 34 new parking spaces for vehicles, for public use and free of charge, which will cover the needs of the residents of this area of Cap Salou.

At the end of this work, the City Council plans to act on the Sorrals path, which leads to the Glorieta hill. This is a unique natural space, located 70 meters above the sea and offering magnificent views. That is why the Salou City Council plans to eliminate accessibility barriers to the beach, and build a viewpoint from where you can admire spectacular views over the sea.

After this action, the completion of the Camino de Ronda will be pending in the part that is owned by the Port of Tarragona, who will have to execute the part of the path that runs along this part of the coastline adjacent to Cap Salou, which is already under the authority of the Authority. Port.

As explained by the Councilor for Land and Housing Management, Marc Montagut, the Camino de Ronda is one of the main attractions, and one of the best valued, by visitors and residents, and for this reason the Salou City Council has made important investments in recent years for its recovery and completion. Among these, the following stand out:
  • the recovery of the natural area of Cala Morisca, with a municipal investment of 1,114,000 euros. This 9,200 m2 space was recovered and regenerated, in order to protect and enhance a green area of great natural and ecological interest. In addition, it enabled a spectacular viewpoint over the sea. To make this action possible in 2016, the Salou City Council bought the villa that was there and all the surrounding land.
When the whole Camino de Ronda is finished, you can follow the 9 km of Salou coastline by the sea, from the beginning of the municipality in Cambrils to El Racó, in Pineda Playa, municipality of Vila-seca, and enjoy the environmental and landscape values of this part of the coastline.
