Since October 2020 PortAventura World has been closed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the wave of outbreaks that have since imposed severe restrictions in Catalonia. The park had announced the opening for next March 27, but the health authorities of the Generalitat have denied this request until further notice. Therefore, PortAventura World will continue to be closed sine die, for now.
The theme park management has regretted the decision and announced to the clientele that it had made reservations for Easter that they will be able to modify the dates of their visit for free.
In 2020 the park closed in March as a result of the declaration of the state of alarm and confinement, and could not reopen until July, with capacity restrictions and sanitary security measures that included temperature control and a new system of ticket sales to reserve in advance, among others.
Just shortly after the start of the Halloween season, with the COVID data triggered in Catalonia, new restrictions were imposed, including the closure of PortAventura and, in general, of theme parks and other leisure activities.
