The Blaumar Group studies applying AI to reinforce its commitment to sustainability

Salou. Costa Dorada. 28 April 2024. The Blaumar Group is a hotel chain with an outstanding track record in Salou, especially for its commitment to sustainability. With more than 30 years of experience in the sector, it is a pioneer in Tarragona in achieving the BREEAM® ES seal, which is added to its other environmental quality certifications. Now, it also explores how artificial intelligence (AI) can help more sustainable tourism.

With the aim of discussing how the tourism sector should integrate AI, a round table has been organized at the Blaumar Hotel in Salou with various experts in the technological and tourism sector of the Costa Daurada. Specifically, Berta Cabré, president of the FEHT, participated; Assumpció Huertas, professor of Communication Studies at the URV; Adrián Garcés, project director at the Catalunya Sud ICT Cluster; Andreu Tobella, CDO & Head of Ventures at PortAventura, and Nuria Varela, Director of Quality and Environment at Grupo Blaumar.

From the various interventions presented at the round table it can be concluded that:

• AI can be a great tool for sustainability in tourism in terms of saving resources of all kinds.
• AI can be a great ally in the analysis and processing of the data with which the tourism sector works
• AI can help create more personalized experiences for each tourist or visitor
• AI can change the roles of professionals in the tourism sector, but it will not replace them
• Individual and collective responsibility is very important so that AI works according to expectations
• There is a lack of training to determine which AI tools or applications can be more efficient to influence more sustainable management of a tourist resource, such as the Blaumar Hotel, for example.

Sustainability and the Blaumar Group: BREEAM® ES seal of the Port Plaza Apartments

The Grupo Blaumar hotel chain has been decisively committed to the rehabilitation and sustainable management of its assets for more than twenty years. The environmental seal achieved by the Port Plaza Apartments includes self-consumption of 100% of the building's energy needs thanks to its photovoltaic and thermal solar energy collection system. It also incorporates air quality analysis systems and complete air renewal 3 times a day. It also includes other water saving and air conditioning air speed regulation systems for greater thermal well-being.
