Modernist wineries in CaixaForum Tarragona until January 5

Tarragona. Costa Dorada. 03 November 2013. The exhibition hall of the CaixaForum Tarragona hosts until January 5, 2014 exposure 'Wineries . Cooperative + Modernism ', an exhibition that offers some clues to understanding the artistic and architectural uniqueness of these wineries or wine cathedrals modernists .

Wine Cathedrals proliferated in Catalonia during the early years of the twentieth century under the emergence of cooperative and Modernism . Today , these buildings stand as living testimony to a turbulent period but characterized by creativity, ingenuity and, above all, by the collaboration between owners and laborers, between city and countryside.

'Wineries. Cooperative + Modernism ' provides the keys to understanding the artistic and architectural uniqueness of these wineries, as well as its history and design and technology innovations that led. All this will thread the architects (especially Cesar Martinell , who designed more than half of these buildings) and people who lived or still live and with an ultimate goal: to rediscover the wineries that still dominate the landscape of many villages of Catalonia. To make this possible, the public will find photographs, computer graphics and audiovisual documentation through time and interactive touch screens and other museological.

The exhibition has been organized by the Obra Social "la Caixa" and the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia under the Wineries Cooperatives program carried out with the aim of rehabilitating eight wineries modernist artistic value and spread their importance.
