This summer Salou opens to the public archaeological park of Villa Roman of Barenys a new space that unveils one of the most important historical heritage of the city. It is a Roman settlement century AD, have been found on fragments of pottery tools and an excellent state of preservation, among other findings.

The archaeological site covers about one hectare and is located in Domenech i Muntaner street, just meters from the municipal football field and close to the Poniente beach in Salou. To raise awareness of the legacy of the town, and how the remote salouencs manufactured or produced wine amphorae 2000 years ago, the City Council has opted for guided tours will be available three days a week throughout the summer.

The tours were led by archaeologist Park, which offers guided tours and free all summer. Barenys Roman remains can be visited on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday afternoons, 18 to 20 hours. Tours are conducted in four languages​​: Catalan, Spanish, English and French, but also educational material is available in Russian and German. The guided tour is free and so is the entry into the premises during the three days of opening.
