This monument on the Paseo Jaime I designed by the architect and sculptor Salvador Ripoll Saumells Lluís Maria, who made the stone figure of the king and the horse's head in stone and covered with gold leaf. The monument was inaugurated on November 28, 1965. King James I (in honor of Salou which also celebrates the festival of king Jaume every September) left the port of Salou to conquer Mallorca in 1229. Not only is it important tourist at the beautiful ride that is located and who gives his name, but the historical significance of it.
