Historic tour by La Vilella Baixa and Cabacés

Route marked by the southern foothills of the Montsant mountains, within the limits of the Natural Park of Sierra de Montsant. The route runs between Cabacés Vilella Baixa and the old road linking the two towns, across the ravine Cavaloca, remains a place where unique medieval bridge, climbs to the top of the cliffs of Montalto and the Bulls down by grade or Screw through some paved sections. The visit to the source of the Corner, located in a spectacular gorge area, offers an excellent complement to this map format through which calls use two vehicles and provide the means to return to the starting point. It leaves Cabacés. To get there from Falset, the capital of the Priorat, take the road to the T-710 Vilella Baixa and continue to the T-702 to the village. It can also be reached directly by road from the latter off the Hostal del Pubill in the C-242 between the neck and saddlebag Cornudella Montsant, passing through winemaking, the Vilella Alta La Vilella Baixa . From the road you enter the street Cabacés Puntarrer s'estaciona twisted, making a car in the parking lot is on your left. The town has some remarkable houses with arcades dating XVIII. On Main Street is to the arcaded square where the market is held. You can visit also the church of the Nativity, a nave with four side chapels for Renaissance and quite simple. The temple contains a beautiful Gothic altar and a painting of Our Lady of Loreto in the year 1624. Further up the High Street in the village by the N side, there is the baroque church of San Juan, alongside the abundant source of feed. 0.00 km (342 m). Parking at the entrance Cabacés. It hits the streets of the Middle and starts walking toward the left (NE) towards the center of town, leaving the main street on the left and, later, right on Low. Leave the village street of San Miguel follow the white and red of the GR 171. Turn right (E) left, leaving the municipal sports area, it leads to a track, it falls to the right (O) and take the track below. 0.80 km (379 m) 0 h 13 min. Branching. Leave a turning left (SE), which points to the corner of the Valleys, where the GR 171 Cabacés enters and continues up the right (SW). 60 meters later, there is another fork. It is left to the right where the track goes to the GR 171, and is still climbing the trail starts a zigzag. On leaving the second turn, there is a path to the right. 0.96 km (406 m) 0 h 15 min. Branching. Leave the track and follow the road up to the SE zigzagging around. Above (1.10 km, 428 m), leaving a trail to the left (HE) and progress back to the south western slope of the Sierra de la Calzada. 1.70 km (509 m) 0 h 32 min. Cantacorbs Coll. The road falls in NE and then back to S along the top of the valley. In the background (S), is the dam of the Strait of Toll or Vilella Baixa, and on the people of Fig. It was losing altitude and, at the 2.42 kilometer (430 m), pass under the stony rocks. 100 meters below, leaving a deviation to the left. Continue down by twisted and steep. At 2.91 km (323 m), crosses a track that leads to the crops and the stony path that comes from the farm of Roger. 3.02 km (294 m) 0 h 55 min. Cross track the path of Roger's house. Continue heading SE leaving immediately after a detour to the right. The path descends to the bottom of the ravine Cavaloca, which crosses the bridge namesake (3.26 km, 253 m, 1 h). Continue back to the other side of the ravine. 3.64 km (304 m), 1 h 09 min. Branching paths. Turn left (E / NE) taking the road paved and neck before leaving the road, which will be refunded after the turn Montalto. Ascend into the cliffs on the NE corner of the gully, first, and Bassotes after. 5.32 km (521 m), 1 h 48 min. You leave the track Montalto of that, passing by the house of God and Forcano, Montsant borders to Scala Dei. 20 meters further, however, left the track and turn right along a path that goes towards S / OS. It crosses the bottom of the ravine. The path along the cliff, now the other side. 6.64 km (426 m), 2 h 06 min. Start down grau dels Bous. The road, paved, describes six zigzags and sits at the foot of the cliff. 7.04 km (333 m), 2 h 16 min. Branching paths. Turn right (NW) and along the cliff to make towards the source of the Corner, located in a cave halfway up the cliff in a spectacular spot (7.32 km, 339 m). It turns back and once you are back to the fork, continue straight (SE) fall into the road. 7.86 km (280 m), 2 h 27 min. Cabacés road from the Vilella Baixa. We continue descending towards SE. A little further down, it crosses a track and continue along the path that is on the other side. Already near the Vilella Baixa, the road ends at the T-702. Follow it to the left (SE) for 80 m, descent and turn right (SE) along a path that descends to the Montsant river bordering the village by S to the height of the magnificent Great Bridge (9.16 km, 185 m), Medieval. It falls to the left (N) and climb the main street towards the center of the town going from San Juan and the church council. It continues up the street from the Church. 9.51 km (232 m), 3 pm Se above the Vilella Baixa, in the parking lot next to the road T-702 (Canton of Barrot). End of tour. At the opposite end of town, there is the Information Centre of the Montsant Natural Park. Needed a careful walk through the village, watching the street that does not happen, that accessed under a porch in the old original center, the neoclassical church of Saint John the Baptist, three ships with built-bell and especially the high houses that tower over the river of Scala, that make the print more of this picturesque town.
